“Do I need to take my laptop out of my bag?”

“Can I bring my CPAP machine through the TSA checkpoint?”

“How many ounces of shampoo can I have in my carry-on?”

Ever-changing Transportation Security Administration rules mean that travelers have questions, and the answers aren’t always easy to find. This often stresses travelers and airport security teams, but a new Salesforce AI agent is easing some of the strain.

Ace is the TSA’s artificial intelligence agent. Built on Salesforce’s Public Sector Solutions platform, it’s already handling routine questions. The rollout offers a real-world example of what these tools can do at scale.

Meet Ace, the TSA’s New Digital Helper

Ace is designed to answer everyday questions about TSA airport security without requiring a TSA employee to handle every conversation. Travelers can access the agent through TSA.gov and the myTSA app. Ace is more than a general-purpose chatbot; it’s a specialized AI travel agent focused exclusively on providing TSA travel information quickly.

Most travelers ask questions about TSA policies and procedures. Ace provides straightforward answers using information from the federal website and hundreds of TSA knowledge articles.

Considering that the TSA handles about 100,000 routine traveler conversations each month, questions can accumulate quickly. Ace takes on much of that workload, so travelers get accurate answers faster and employees don’t have to answer the same basic questions repeatedly.

What makes ACE different from a typical chatbot is that it resolves the interaction without leaving users at a dead end or forcing them to wait for a representative. Salesforce says that since its launch, Ace has resolved 96% of routine inquiries without escalating them to a human representative.

When more complicated requests are passed along to TSA personnel, they can access notes and conversation histories through its Customer Service Managers App. This allows them to address the issue without starting from scratch.

What Your Business Can Learn From the TSA

The TSA’s Ace implementation previews where customer service is headed across every industry. Routine questions eat up staff hours that could go toward higher-value work. A well-trained Salesforce AI agent can handle these, giving customers what they need while your people focus on improving your business.

That’s the foundation of how the TSA is using Ace. The tool helps personnel focus on higher-priority work by giving travelers fast, accurate information before they reach the checkpoint.

It also shows that a useful system doesn’t have to do everything. Ace has a defined role: answer common airport security questions and route complex matters to the right people. That combination allows the technology to handle volume while keeping human employees involved where they are needed.

AI Beyond the Chatbot

The Salesforce AI Agent built for the TSA shows how AI is moving beyond simply answering questions to handling parts of a service operation. When an organization has a large volume of predictable questions, putting a capable digital assistant on the front line can speed up the process without removing people from the equation.
